Chocolate Biscuits
There has been articles in the press media lately how some choclate bars and biscuits on the market do not contain any chocolate! It seems incredible
One of those days recently with that incessant rain I decided to experiment with making choclate biscuits. It is strange as I realyy don’t like choclate but I was pleased with the final outcome.
Chocolate Biscuits
300g Self Raising Flour
30g Cocoa NOT Drinking Chocolate
250g Soft Butter or margarine
125g Caster sugar
Preheat oven to 180°C fan oven
Put baking parchment onto two baking trays.
Sieve flour and cocoa together and leave aside.
In another bowl beat sugar and butter together for about 5 minutes. You really need the mixture to change colour which is why if you are using butter it has to be SOFT.
Mix in the flour with a spoon. I find a tablespoon works the best. The mixture will become very stiff which is what you want.
Take a tablespoon of the mixture and form it into a ball. Place on the baking tray but leave space between. These biscuits are inclined to spread.
Place both trays in together.
After 5 minutes reduce heat to 170°C . Bake for another 15 mins but check after 10 mins just in case they are burning. Tops should be all crackled on top. The biscuits should be brown but not very dark brown.
Enjoy with a glass of milk or a cuppa.
