It Won’t Go

“Then Read from the treasured volume

The poem of thy choice,

And lend to the rhyme of the poet

The beauty of thy voice.”

These lines have been popping into my head and for the life of me I can’t remember where they come from or where I have recently seen them.

I don’t have too many books around me in my room as the dust from paper fibre can affect my skin. But, and there has to be a but, there are certain books which will stay with me until I am gone. These include some poetry books.

Eventually I found the poem hidden in the midst of my poetry books. The poem is called Aideen by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. He is not a poet I have read too often but I am finding there are a few of his poems growing on me.

So if you have a poem you like just try saying it out loud. I was surprised how different it felt saying the words and hearing them to give another insight into the rhythm and flow of a poem.

Enjoy your poetry.
