Preparation for a Sports Filled Weekend on TV

Pen

Getting through the Euros and even had a short break from the excitment.

This weekend though proved to be a mamoth weekend of sport which required a logistical mind to traverse TV scheduling. As I am not logically minded I opted out of that my taking back a small Tv which allowed me to see the sports I loved. I now have it set up ready for Wimbledon. Yes, the tennis tournament has arrived.

There was the other small matter of food. So many sports dictated a fridge full of picnic items. The raw ingredients of salads, separate salad dressings and plenty of lemon wedges. I detest salads where a dressing has already been pored over it. I like to make my ow dressings which are a bit left field. you see mayonaise, french salad dressings, salad cream, just do nothing for me. Being non dairy, yoghurt dressings are not even considered. However some citrus juice and zest with black pepper can really “zing” a salad.

The other essential was bread. Not a problem with our inhouse baker. No cooking of any sort for the day. Soda bread, white bread rolls and a wwhite loaf and we were erady for that weekend of sport.

The idea of a picnic really worked and it is something I am going to use over the next few weeks. However I did make a pot of soup. Although technically it is summer, it was grey overcast 12C here. It felt cold so a pot of my “anything” soup turned out to be just wonderful in the picnic.
