Which Moment Matters?
“Be present, it is the only this moment which matters”
I do not know where I got this quote or to whom it can be attributed to. It is one of those quotes which has been with me through many journals.
Every so often it comes to mind and makes me stop. It is good to stop and savour that precise moment.
Yesterday I was busy with lists and the things I “HAD” to do. It was the only thing I could think of. That list had to be done so that everything would be completed and completed on time. You may know that feeling when the rush of life overtakes.
However, my brian needed to stop. Making that list was not slowing down the brian all it was doing wa increasing the stress levels. With every new item written down the idea that I would never get anything done just swamped me.
So, I hid the notebookwith the list in the middle of my scrap fabric bag and hurried out to the kitchen. Within a few minutes I had all the makings of my old reliable apple cake. This involves using the hands to make this cake. There are no machines just gently using the “rub in “method to make a delicious cake. I have been making this cake since I was a kid but it has been a while since I have made it.
By the time it was ready for the oven I found myself singing away and loving the experience. All those moments which gave us a beautiful cake, were special and at the same time calming. It was then that the quote came to me “be present it is only this moment which matters”.
Sometimes, it is good for the spirit, the soul, the person to take time to notice what it is we are doing. To savour that moment and appreciate it.
