A New Expression
I came across the word “Felicific” and the definition I was given form my firendly dictionary “Causing or intending to cause happiness”.
That part “intending to cause happiness” really stopped me. I can’t remember hearing or reading that phrase. I have read and heard more often than I may have wanted the phrase “intending to cause harm”. However, the phrase “intending to cause happiness” is a new one for me.
I wonder how our world would be if felicific was a common word and a common way of living? Now I am not even thnking of the way the world is at the moment and the hatred which has inveigled its way into our beautiful world. but more our immediate world, our own community. Would it make a difference?
I sat with a cuppa pondering this expression and with it my thoughts wandered to my fellow crafters. These various crafters epitomise the term intending to cause happiness. The joy that they bring to so many lives is incalculable. There is no way of quantifying the joy and happiness that they bring to their worlds and their communities.
So to all you crafters thank you for being felicific.
I glanced around the garden and noticed the jasmine shrub in full bloom and it definitely was felicific.
The craftsmanship added to the glow which brought a little happiness.
